Time again for some new products that I’ve been eating lately! These all get positive reviews.

1. Aidells Italian Sausage

I have tried a few varieties of Aidell’s sausages, and really like the Italian. Four cooked links come in a package and I keep them in the freezer until a few hours before we are ready for dinner, slice them in half lengthwise and put them on the stove to heat for a few minutes. Delicious, easy, and nutritious! The italian sausage ingredients are chicken, turkey, mozarella cheese, and spices. They have 170 calories and 14g protein per link. Grade: A+ and bonus, Jeffrey likes them too!

2. Athenos Feta Varieties

I have been a fan of Athenos hummus for a long time (good size to last more than a week, not too runny or too chunky), and recently they started producing feta cheese crumbles. I am a big fan of the reduced fat tomato basil. It comes in crumbles or a block, and is great on eggs, salads, chicken, anything! Adding feta immediately bumps up the taste. The pack is resealable and hasn’t gone bad for the amount of days I keep the pack. 1/4 C (which is way more than I sprinkle on a salad) has 90 calories, 7 g fat, and 7 g protein. Grade: Another A+ for taste and versatility.

 3. Larabar Tropical Fruit Tart

I have been a little annoyed that big city Houston is not carrying the new Larabar flavors yet (or I don’t know where they are if they’re here). So I bought a flavor that is new to me to take to the beach last week. I tried Tropical Fruit Tart which has pineapple, orange, and coconut flavors. Hello Tropics! This flavor was refreshing and a great snack. I have always been disappointed that Larabars are more of a fun snack than packed with nutrients like protein, so I usually have half at a time. This one has 210 calories, 12 g fat, 19 g sugar, and 3 g protein. Grade: A.

Marci, I am curious. Have you ever considered going gluten free?

    • Marci1684 says:

      Hi Emily,
Are you g-free? Sometimes I like g-free products because I think they are healthier in general, but I don’t have a gluten allergy so I don’t think I need to go g-free. And I like bread too much. Where do you live in Houston?

  2. SIMI says:

Yay another person from Houston :)

I’ve tried all, Lara bars don’t hold me over they are only for a snack boooo.
    Feta is my life.

I want to try Aidells Italian Sausage!!! Where can I get those?

    • Marci1684 says:

I can find Aidells at Randalls, so it’s probably at any regular grocery store. Don’t remember if it’s at Whole Foods or Central Market. I like that it’s pre-cooked and not raw. Nice to have more Houston people!

  3. Emily Houston says:

I am not “g-free” although my hero, Gwyneth Paltrow, is. I actually do not live in Houston, although it looks like a fun city per your posts!
