Half day in The Hamptons

This trip has been so fun! On Saturday with a lot of time to kill, two families took a trip out to the Hamptons! We visited South Hampton, which was about an hour from our hotel in Long Island. We shopped, had lunch, and bought some good food goodies too.

Check out my handsome husband standing in front of one of his favorite stores, Vineyard Vines. He’s just a good Southern boy at heart.

Really cute little strip of shops, including cute clothing shops, restaurants, and jewelry shops too. Many are only open in the summertime. It was quite chilly for us but quiet and pretty.

We found the ocean, so cold and windy so we snapped some pics and headed back in the car.

When we’re close to the ocean, I can’t help but wanting to see it with my eyes. This beach was deserted, but surrounded by beautiful homes that were probably empty right now. Funny to be on the beach in coats and sweatshirts.

And then…we found Tate’s Bake Shop. Have you heard of Tate’s? They make really great crispy cookies sold at specialty stores like Central Market and Rice Epicurean in Texas. We drove by the shop and had to go visit the headquarters. Look at all the cookies.

Such a cute little store front. It was quite crowded with lots of cookies, pies and goodies for Easter. We love small town shops, reminded us of Seaside, FL when we visit Destin every year.

It was a gloomy day that turned to rain, but still peaceful and fun to see.

The wind thingy told us the direction.

This house was right on the beach. Touching the sand with a low tide it almost touched the water too.

Also on this trip, we bought Biscoff spread. Have you tried this? It has the creaminess of peanut butter but with only 88 calories per tablespoon. It’s much sweeter and not as nutritious in fat and protein, but the same taste structure as PB. It’s awesome. Already had it with pretzels and an apple.

Have you been to the Hamptons?

I had never been outside of NYC. I’d love to see this in the summertime. I’m sure it’s completely different!

Also, here’s my latest story on going green by eating green in CultureMap.

And Passover starts tomorrow night! Here’s the recipe for chocolate matzo toffee I posted last week.

Looks like so much fun! I LOVE Tate’s! They also ship across the country too. I had no idea they had their stuff at Central Market (which I miss SOOOO much!) but they had awesome pie and cookies of course :)

Why is Biscoff so much better? You only save about 5 calories/tablespoon. Pretty sure, that’s not a material amount.

you are correct, i looked at it wrong and thought peanut butter was 200 cal/T when it’s 200 cal/2 Tablespoons. I realized that this morning.
