It is Week 17 here! It really is hard to believe that I am 17 weeks. Sounds like a lot, yes? Lots to go, but seems like we are well into this journey. This week, I am the size of a turnip! That’s like a potato, y’all! The baby is 5 inches long. It’s getting big, and I am too.
Here’s what I’ve noticed this week:
- I am finally wearing some maternity clothes. Jeans, bigger tops, and maternity dresses. It is comfortable, but the pants don’t really stay up very well. They are all elastic at the waist, so there’s nothing keeping them up. I’m sure I’ll be sad when they one day are too snug, but right now the waist is a little big.
- I am pretty much not sleeping on my stomach. My body doesn’t really let me anymore. It feels very strange when I end up there, and my body just rolls over to a side. I fall asleep on my side and hopefully stay like that.
- I feel most round at night.
- Still haven’t felt a kick, that’s not surprising, still early.
- Lily might know something is up. She snuggles on my sides while we’re sleeping, maybe I’m taking up more room and she’s just looking for anywhere to sleep.
- I feel great in the mornings. Like normal. Still exercising four days per week, mostly 60 minute walks.
- I sleep so good at night, about 10 hours.
And here is my PSA to all people of the world: There is one polite thing to say to a pregnant woman of any size: “You’re looking great!” Not: “Wow you’re looking really pregnant today.”
IOU a picture.

Yay! Sometimes it seems like your pregnancy is going even faster than mine!
Glad you’re feeling good and exercising in the mornings- I’m hoping to get back into it next week, after daylight savings and a stressful work week.
